Children's Clothing Consignments

Tis' the season for fall/winter consignment sales! Most people probably think about the green in their wallet that can be saved but what about the environmental benefits to consigning and shopping consignment? Consignment is one of the best ways to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle when you have a child.

Reduce: The clothing industry is one of the leading causes of environmental pollutants; from the pesticides and chemicals used while treating the cottons in the fields to the manufacturing and delivery processes . You can reduce emissions and environmental pollutants by purchasing gently worn clothing and lightly loved toys.

Reuse: That's basically the definition of consignment! Consigning children's items provides the opportunity for other parents to find gently loved items for the little one in their life. Purchasing consigned clothing and toys saves your wallet, the planet and still provides the economy with a little boost from shopping.

Recycle: Children grow like weeds and their favorite toy practically changes daily. Parents are left with mountains of clothing that no longer fit and piles of toys to collect dust. Now what? The clothing and toys are given to a friend, donated to charity, thrown away (NO!) or maybe sold in a yard sale for cents on the dollar of what was originally paid! Children's consignment sales allow parents to get back more of the money spent and help keep the landfills a little smaller.

If you're a local reader, don't miss our favorite consignment sale, Kids Everywear at the Prime Outlets in Morrisville. August 29- September 15, 2009.

Kids Everywear, a semi-annual children's consignment sale, began 11 years ago by stay at home moms, Gail Walker and Beth Pendola. Kids Everywear quickly grew to become one of the Raleigh/Durham area's largest consignment sales with over 12,000 shoppers, 1,000+ consignors and 700 volunteers! Whether you're looking for a baby carrier, stroller, clothing, books or toys you can find what you're looking for at this sale. Kids Everywear also offers homeschool supplies, baby furniture, upscale maternity clothing, a new Mommy/Teen mart and that's just a tiny preview of the items you can find! I have never once been disappointed in the variety or quality of the items in this sale. Shop first and score the really great gear by volunteering to work the sale or consigning items. You can also get a pass to shop early if you're a pregnant or first time mom. Kids Everywear allows consignors to keep 2/3 of each sale! That's up to 50% more than other sales and shops. Really, you can't go wrong with this sale!

Another thing GiveThemRoots loves about the Kids Everywear sale, they donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to UNC Children's Hospital, Birthchoice and Pregnancy Life Care. They also donate all of the unsold items that consignors have chosen to donate to Birthchoice and With Love From Jesus! LOVE that!

Register to volunteer or consign with Kids Everywear HERE! And don't forget to join the mailing list so you don't miss a future sale!
