Swine Flu Vaccine: Is it safe?

Swine Flu, also know as the H1N1 virus, leaves a lot to be concerned about but the virus isn't my main concern. My OBGYN has been encouraging me, since the CDC (Center for Disease Control) released that pregnant women were most at risk from swine flu and they would be given the vaccine first, to accept the vaccine. I talked about it with my husband and we agreed that there's something wrong with pregnant women being injected with a vaccine that will have a minuscule 6-8 weeks of human trial testing done. What about the long term effects? What will the vaccine do to my baby? Can they even discover problems in a period of time that short? What's in this vaccine? I had a million questions running through my head. There is a plethora of information not being disclosed on this vaccine by mainstream media but it's out there and it's easy to find.
  • Long term effects: they have no idea with a short trial testing period like the one being performed. But, in 1976 a mass production and administration of a "swine flu" vaccine that had a short testing period was given to 40 million people before there was an emergency stop in administration and production of the vaccine. Why? Hundreds of people were developing Guillian-Barre syndrome (GBS), which is an auto-immune response. Dozens of people died from the once thought harmless inject they received. GBS is the leading cause of paralysis when it is not trauma induced. The vaccine "oops" cost the governments millions of dollars and caused a public relations nightmare. The result: a signed bill that FULLY protects pharmaceutical companies from being sued from vaccine induced injuries or deaths. Did you read that?!?!? The FDA is protecting the drug makers, not you. Keep that in mind. It's officially an "inject at your own risk" drug.
  • I haven't been able to find anything on the potential effects to a pregnant woman. Meaning, I have no idea if they have even tested it on a pregnant person yet (or why any woman would subject herself & unborn baby to be a guinea pig)! However, the distribution of the vaccine is scheduled for approximately 4 weeks from now... to pregnant women first.
  • What's in the vaccine? This is the truly disturbing part. The vaccine contains the following INSANE things:
  1. 2 live strands of the H1N1 virus. Whose nutrient substance come from the cancerous cells of animals. Several doctors, including a lung specialist have said they have no idea if there will be an allergic reaction to the cells. * the vaccine is a two dose administered drug, the first dose contains the live strands, the second contains "dead" strands.*
  2. Thimersol. Also known as mercury. Which has been removed from children's vaccines for very reasons and believed by some to cause Autism.
  3. Formaldehyde. Yep, the exact same stuff they inject dead people with to preserve them!
  4. MF-59. An oil-based "adjuvant" that has two ingredients that raise red flags, squalene and gp120. Several studies have shown that immune "adjuvants" frequently cause auto-immune responses like lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.. More to follow on squalene and gp120. But, MF-59 animal testing resulted in 13 out of 14 guinea pigs dying. A repeat of the test had the same result.
  5. Squalene, the red flag soaring highest: it's a type of oil. And this is the ingredient given to the GIs during the Gulf war that is directly linked to Gulf War Syndrome. It caused a long list of problems with the GIs, including but far from limited to, arthritis, skin lesions, memory loss, rashes, photosensitive rashes, fibromyalgia, seizures, chronic diarrhea, etc...
  6. Gp120: Are you ready for this? It's a glycoprotein that stems from the human AIDS virus HIV-1. Sounds crazy right? Well apparently it's a weakened or "dead" protein from the virus so you won't contract HIV but it's purpose? I have no idea. Gp120 has a bigger problem though, in the medical world they call the problem "recombination hotspots". So. what exactly is a recombination hotspot? It's a frequent break in DNA or RNA that allows for reformation. Reformation that has shown to mimic viruses or bacterias like Hepatisis B, Herpes, and Tuberculosis.

If I wrote about all the dangers and risks of this vaccine the post would be pages long. There is a TON of information out there. I want to personally encourage every single one of my readers to look into this before you accept this vaccine for you or your loved ones. Try some of the links below and if you find one particularly helpful please leave it in a comment.

I've said it once and I'll say it again... knowledge is power. Don't just go with the flow, sometimes the flow is going down the drain.

Disclaimer: I personally believe in vaccines. I think most vaccines do more good than harm but THIS vaccine doesn't seem to fit that bill. I am not a doctor or medical professional, please research this yourself and ask your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

I will not be getting the vaccine. I am pregnant as well and there has just not been enough testing for me to feel comfortable enough to subject my unborn child to un-needed stress. By the time it's released I will only have 6-8 weeks more of my pregnancy left. I think I'd rather chance a preemie than the side effects of a new vaccine. Maybe if I was a working pregnant mother I would possibly sorta consider the H1N1 vaccine, but I'm not and I will NOT be getting the vaccine. Thanks for the info!

myglorydays: it is unfortunate that the military is the USUAL the test patient from what I researched. Pharm. companies do have test trials but it's small compared to the military test. Most of the vaccines are given to them before they are anyone else. Ex. the Gulf War Syndrome. I guess when you sign up to die for our country's safety and defense you could be signing up to die for our population's immune defense?! Makes zero sense. I also really believe they are blowing the death toll out of proportion, look at last year. They called it an "epidemic" and do you know anyone that got it? I don't personally.

Evelyn: That is EXACTLY how I feel about it. I'll take my chances for the last weeks of my pregnancy, especially after the information I read. My doctor isn't happy about it but ya know, sometimes doctors don't best either!

Thanks for the great comments ladies!

I go to a military hospital, and my provider suggested that I get the vaccine when it comes out. I guess the flu can be very detrimental to Moms to be. Since this is my first pregnancy, I will have to read all the pros and cons out there.

ThreadBeaur: That's exactly what I think everyone should do. Just research it yourself and make an informed decision based on your findings. There a lot of information out there. Providers are ALL going to encourage the vaccine, they might even be required to according to some things I've read.

This morning I read an article that said the state of Mass. senate just passed a bill requiring vaccination and if you refuse they can fine you $1000 per day if you don't quarantine yourself in the event of an epidemic. Mass quarantine not because you're sick but because you didn't get the vaccine. I have no idea how this law passed, or even how it's legal, but it did.

I am kind of lucky in the fact that Jake is allergic to eggs so NO flu shots for him at all. The down side, he also has asthma, so any type of cold/virus goes straight to his chest. DH and I discussed the possibility of us getting the vac. but have not decided on it yet...I don't think that I will get it after reading some of this stuff.
