GTR's New Mascot

While we're introducing newbies on GiveThemRoots, I've got one more introduction! Meet Bella, the newest member to our family. Bella is an 8 week old black lab that we rescued from a PetSmart adopt-a-thon for a local county's Humane Society this weekend. Her mother gave birth to nine puppies one day after being dropped off at a shelter by her owners.

I can't stress enough the importance of rescuing dogs. There are so many organizations and shelters with sweet little faces like Bella's that are waiting to be adopted. Some of these dogs are in high kill shelters! One of the main reasons people don't adopt pets from shelters is that they are looking for a specific breed or a purebred dog. There are hundreds of pet rescue organizations that are breed specific. Whether you are looking for a Saint Bernard, a Dalmatian, a Yorkie, or another breed I guarantee you there's a rescue group near you! Just EcoSearch it! If you're not looking for a specific dog check out your local shelters, especially the high kill shelters! You could be a dog's last chance.

Do you have a rescue group you want to mention? Give them a shout out in the comments and let other readers know about them!

I'll start... Saving Grace, a Raleigh, NC animal rescue and adoption. Saving Grace is run by an amazing lady named Molly and she runs Saving Grace out of her home! It has grown to be a huge rescue operation. Saving Grace picks up pups that would otherwise meet their fate at other shelters.
