Check out this short e-interview with Erin to learn a little about her.1. What's your best eco-vice? just start with the small things; changing light bulbs to CFL bulbs when the current ones go, change your laundry detergent, switch to cloth napkins, turn the dial to COLD to wash clothes (except I do wash my cloth diapers and sheets on hot). For me, the small things were so easy to change, but it was like a snowball effect, more and more of the decisions I made that were "eco-friendly" the more I wanted to make the "right" decisions.
2. If you could do any one thing to help the planet this year, what would it be? Give everyone lots of dish clothes and towels and stop production of paper towels! And tell celebrities that they can fly on the same flights as us commoners, they don't need private jets, sheesh!
3. Nobody's perfect, confess your number one Eco-NoNo. I have to say driving too much is probably my biggest nono. I try to stay home, but can't seem to do it most days. We also leave our computer on ALL the time. I'm also planning on using a chemical to control fire ants in our backyard, I know, I know. But to enjoy our yard, it's a must. Um... you just asked for one, didn't you?

4. With two small girls, how do you try to instill a love for nature in your children? Plants are key for us. We've always had houseplants and I've made a big production of taking care of them. My oldest has her own watering can. We're involving the girls in the garden this year. The attempt last year started out good, but my oldest (at the time was 2 1/2) was bitten several times by fire ants that cured her of any desire to be in our backyard (see my Eco-NoNo). This summer we're going to put bird feeders up and the oldest will have her own gardening box that she will be responsible for. It might sound silly, but I don't kill bugs in front of them. I try to explain the "whys" behind our actions, i.e. we recycle and put trash in the can to help the planet. I know they are young, but I don't think it's ever to early to start talking to them. I believe modeling good behaviors and attitudes is one of the most important aspects of parenting.
5. What's one environmental friendly product that you recommend to everyone? Hands down, no questions asked, Charlie's Soap detergent!
