20 Things To Do With Your Kids

That is, 20 things that do not involve televisions, computers, or video games.

10 Fun-filled Favorites for Sunny Days:

  1. Go for a nature hike. Or even just a walk.
  2. Play with sidewalk chalk.
  3. Ride bikes, scooters, push cars, whatever your kiddo has.
  4. Set up your family's camping tent and let the kids play in it.
  5. Go to your child's favorite playground or park.
  6. Have a picnic (don't forget to feed the ducks).
  7. Play in the sprinkler, pool, or even with water guns!
  8. Plant a small garden or flower bed that's specifically for your child to take care of.
  9. Paint a birdhouse and hang it in a tree that your child can see from his/her room.
  10. Wash the car! ( this a two-fer, you get a clean car and your kid has a blast!)

10 Boredom Busters for Rainy Days:

  1. Make playdough. Try one of THESE recipes.
  2. Dye eggs; 7 out of 10 kids will eat a hard boiled egg when it's dyed, true fact!
  3. Make a fort using every pillow, blanket and chair you can spare.
  4. Play card games. Even if your child is too young to understand the rules of "Uno", it's a great way to work on colors for small children or numbers for older children.
  5. Make your world bright and sunny by drawing pictures on the windows using dry erase markers. It will wipe right off when you're done.
  6. Go outside! Pull on the rain jackets & boots and find some puddles. You'll be so glad you did.
  7. Make a rain gauge. You can use just about anything- old cups, bottles, jars, etc.
  8. Make a family band. If you don't have musical instruments you can make them using bottles and beans/rice, etc. be creative. Almost anything makes noise.
  9. Go to story time at the library or have your own at home.
  10. Create a puppet show. Make easy paper bag puppets like THESE and put on a show for Daddy (or Mommy) when he gets home. Just recycle the puppets when you're done!

Your house has more fun than mine - I played computer games most of the day. Not much better than tv.
