The Great Eczema Battle (giveaway)

Remember when I was pleading for help with my 4 month old's out of control eczema? I have good news and bad news about the battle.

The Good: After trying a variety of reader suggestions, I can finally say that this Mom defeated the ferocious opponent with a total K.O. victory.
The Bad: I'm have no idea which suggestion worked.

I wish that I could tell you what the winning hit was. But, what I can do is tell you about the changes we made and the products that helped.
  1. We cut out the Burt Bee's baby products and began using all fragrance free. We tried several brands of fragrance free, my favorite was Eucerin. Aveeno was the cheapest but it's a far cry from the safest. Aveeno has a product score of 6 out of 10... with 10 being the worst. You can read more about that on http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/ If you haven't been to that website, it's bookmark worthy!
  2. No more fragranced lotion or body wash on Mom either. I use the baby's products since we have so much skin contact through out each day.
  3. No dairy - with exception of some cheese. This was a pediatrician suggestion because my other children have had milk intolerances. I'm starting to think this was the initial flare up cause. I might have consumed just a wee bit of ice cream since he's been born. OK, maybe a lot. At my 6 week postpartum visit I weighed 3 lbs less than pre-pregnancy and now I weigh 10lbs more! Yes, in 3.5 months I gained 10 lbs. Apparently, neither of our bodies care for ice cream not even organic.
  4. Evan started wearing this...

Cute, right?!? It's a hazelwood teething necklace from Sweetbottoms Baby Boutique: http://www.sweetbottomsbaby.com/ .

Hazelwood is known for it's natural teething benefits but it can also help people with acid reflux, arthritis, constipation, dental discomfort, heartburn, migraines, skin problems (psoriasis, eczema, acne), sleep issues, and more. Because they are all natural, chemical-free and drug free, they are safe for all ages!

Hazelwood users recommend that your child (or you) wear the necklace constantly, especially during bath time since the hazelwood oils are absorbed into the skin. I was slightly paranoid about sleeping and my chunky monkey's double (ahem, triple) chin rubbing on it. Evan wore his during the day and during baths. These necklaces are offered in two sizes, I recommend the larger even for small babes. Not only is the hazelwood necklace adorable but it really seemed to be helping him! He's also teething and the necklace seems to help ease the pain! All around, I'm digging this necklace. You can find Evan's necklace, and several other designs HERE.

Beth at Sweetbottoms Baby Boutique is generously providing a hazelwood teething necklace to one lucky reader!
