This is a personal request and I truly help that you will help me out. The family/ best friends/neighbors/ godparents that I've mentioned so many times (the Christmas breakfast post, the daffodils, etc.) need some help. Duane Deaver's name has been in the media nationwide, but the truth is NOT being told. Duane was fired from his position after a murder trial in the state of North Carolina. Duane is a forensic investigator and due to a shady defense attorney, his name and credibility was wrongfully slandered. The worst part, now that the truth HAS come out, the media is not covering it! I need your help spreading the word and asking media to support Duane Deaver and clear his name! Here's a letter that a family friend of the Deaver's wrote. Please share it, act on it or do what you feel will help! Duane is one of the kindest, most honorable men that I know. He was practically my second dad and I know that the picture painted by the defense attorney for the media is false. Thanks in advance.
The time to act is now!!! Support Duane Deaver
ASCLD has just released a statement this past Friday to try and educate the public and correct the media. They have posted it on their website, which is http://www.ascld-lab.org/. There is a link at the bottom of the web page for the statement. ASCLD rarely releases such statements.
This statement supports the fact the Duane Deaver is innocent and has been fired without cause. I hope you all will take the time to read these findings. Most of us have never doubted Duane. Now there is proof.
Please take action. Send this email to everyone you know. Contact the Attorney General Roy Cooper and let him know you have read the statement and support Duane Deaver. Contact the local media outlets and ask them why they are not covering this story. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and the N&O. Contact your local legislators and ask for their attention to this matter.

Deaver is a criminal who abused his position to send innocent people to jail. He may be a nice guy in private life, but his behavior at work ruined thousands of lives. I hope he is prosecuted criminally and spends significant time in prison.
Deaver's testimony in trials concerning his experience was drastically inflated to match his inflated ego. He is not the expert he claimed to be and should be prosecuted for his actions. The defendants he testifed against were most likely guilty, however, because of his false testimony many will get a new trial on appeal and either cost the state of NC more money to procecute a second time or the DA in those cases may be forced not to prosecute due to various circumstance such as lack of witnesses who have passed away over the years. In any case, Duane Deaver gave false testimony to inflate his credentials when the facts alone most likely would have insured lasting convictions for the accused.

I have seen a lot of comments supporting Duane Deaver. These come from people who know him personally. They describe him as a wonderful, generous, nice guy who could never do anything wrong. When talking with scientists who knew and worked with him they describe him as arrogant, condescending, and incompetent. I believe you and others who say Mr. Deaver is basically a nice guy. I also know he is a bad scientist, who it appears has lashed out at anyone who has questioned his work over the years and refuses to admit he has made mistakes. Unfortunately, this has just made things worse. I am glad Mr. Deaver has friends like you who support him and I hope he gets comfort from that. But I also have to say defending his actions and lobbying for him to get his job back is not best way to help him.
I can tell you from my personal experiences with Duane Deavers former sbi agent, that he had no problem saying what ever he thought he needed to, to help the state get a conviction. Statements like the sbi lab did not use luminol. That he could look at a only a picture of a crime scene and explain how blood was exhaled from a victim's last breath over 15 feet. Well it turned out that after the dna was done on the blood that it was not even from the victim as he had testified too. Deavers lied in 2 cases that I was a part of numerous times. He lied with no hesitation and was very convincing to the jury. He needs to be arrested, and is lucky that he hasn't been. Maybe someday he will be.
