The GTR Awards

During a recent DVD purchase of the movie WALL-E for my boys, I discovered that the packaging of this DVD is made of 100% recycled cardboard instead of using a plastic jewel case like most DVDs are packaged in. Impressed? I am. The paper inserts inside the DVD are also boasting claim that they are printed on 30% post consumer recycled paper. I hope to see more of the DVDs from Disney/Pixar and all of the studios in recycled and recyclable materials!

My hat goes off to Disney/Pixar on their efforts in helping to preserve our planet. So, I am presenting Disney/Pixar with GiveThemRoots' very first Global Friend Award. Way to go guys!
You can help too. When you purchase CDs or DVDs look for casing that is made from cardboard instead of plastic or acrylics. Or even better, download movies and music when you can from websites like iTunes. Not only will you save the landfills from a few ounces and years of plastic, you'll usually save a few bucks too.
