Organic and Homemade Baby Food Week

Excuse me, I'd like to report a robbery. Someone has stolen the last five months of my baby's life and I'd like it returned. You see, a lot happens in those first five months that will never happen again: first smile, first coo, first laugh, first roll, first bath, hundreds of naps with a teeny tiny babe snuggled on my chest and tucked under my chin, etc..

It seems hardly possible that my baby is five months old today. Clearly, someone has stolen nearly half a year of my life. Right? I wish it were that easy. I wish someone could simply return the past few months and let us treasure each tiny moment again.

(A recent funny from our house.)

Instead, we are experiencing a new first: Evan's first food.

With our oldest three children, I made about 1/2 of the baby food they ate. I'm planning to make about 75% of Evan's. The only difference will be how I make his baby food, what I serve the food in and what our little prince wears while dining.

I've come to the reality that I knew jack squat when it came to feeding the twins and not much more when I was feeding Hudson! With the twins I was still naive enough to believe that if it was sold in the store it was safe for my child. I had no idea what BPA was, so you bet I wasn't checking my bibs, bowls or cups for a hidden serious danger. I had no idea that genetically modified fruits and vegetables could be used in those tiny little jars of baby food. Or, that the milk they would eventually consume would be packed full of growth hormones. I. Was. The. Average. Uninformed. Parent. I've come a long way since then and my journey's far from over.

This week while Evan's experiencing his first scoop of baby cereal, you will be getting a "scoop" too. The baby feeding scoop. Every product that I'm using to feed him, and keep the food off of him, will be reviewed right here. From Beaba's Babycook, to Munchkin's Natural Wood bowls/spoons to the premade baby food wonders of HappyBaby, I won't miss a step!

And, a little bird told me that we have some awesome giveaways lined up too.

I have a Beaba's Babycook and I LOVE it! It's great how you can cook and puree the food in one unit :) Have fun reviewing it! I love making baby food!

OUr five month old is starting foods too! We have the babycook, and Love it. I made some carrots yesterday, and stuck them in the freezer for later. His first food was avocado which he really loved. I loved it too...no cooking required, plus I get the left overs! Yum.
I can't wait to see your reviews!
