While helping a friend with her baby registry we stumbled across a line of diapers carried at BabiesRus, Nature Babycare. My friend asked what I knew about them, and sadly that was nothing. We eyed the package reading their "story", and checking out the printed facts about this eco-friendly claiming diaper and I told my friend I would research a little into them and let her know what I thought. I picked up a package of diapers and a travel pack of wipes to test out.
First, I have some major hang ups with "eco-friendly disposable diapers". The biggest is that most diapers that are chlorine-free claim to be better for the environment. Talk about a faux pas! Yes, they don't have chlorine so they are better for your baby & they do reduce dioxin pollution but they can still take up to 500 years to break down just like that chemically loaded Pampers will. Almost all of them still contain plastic fillers and barriers. NOT NATURE BABYCARE!!!!!! And I really heart their diapers for that reason.
Per http://www.natyusa.com/, here's the skinny on this line of REAL eco-friendly (and highly affordable) diapers...Nature Babycare:
- The convenience of high-performance disposable diapers with the most environmentally friendly attributes
- No oil-based plastics against your baby's delicate skin \
- 100% Chlorine-free diaper - does not contribute to dioxin pollution
- Natural, breathable high performance diaper
- Unique Center-Channel reduces the need for bulky absorbent material while enhancing leak protection
- Absorbent pulp from sustainably harvested Scandinavian forests
- No latex, fragrance, or TBT (tributyltin)
I found Nature Babycare diapers were every bit as stretchy, snug fitting, and even price comparable (11.99 a pack at BabiesRus) to major diaper brands such as Pampers and Huggies. They are white, not brown like Seventh Generation which is a plus in my book. Something about a brown diaper just seems dirty from the start. I have a skinny-mini one year old son, who is into everything and sleeps for 10 hours straight at night. I didn't have a single leak or problem with this diaper.

The wipes... oooooh the wipes. They are a generous size and very thick giving them an almost cloth like texture. The lightly scented wipes are just heavenly... the smell is perfection. They stole my heart for sure.
Did I mention that even Nature Babycare's packaging is 100% natural and compostable? You read that right, no plastics not even in the packaging.
I'm still sticking with my BumGenius cloth diapers but when we need a pack of sposies for the road or during yucky bugs, I'll be counting on Nature Babycare from here out.

YOU'RE Right Dare! As far as sposies go, these diapers are great! It's just a shame that Target doesn't carry more sizes in our area. I think more people might actually buy them if Nature Babycare had a bigger display and selection!
Kellye, That is awesome that your Target carries them!!! Our doesn't carry any "green" products unless you count Method products... that's pretty much it. Sounds like I need to put some requests in to the manager here.
I completely agree about people buying them if they were more accessible and had a larger selection!
When you know what your priority for diapering, you can more easily select the best diaper for your family.
